James A. (Jim) Currie

CEO, COO, Director

James A. (Jim) Currie has more than 45 years of experience in the mining industry and has been responsible for the construction and operation of mines in a number of countries around the world. He is the former Chief Operating Officer of TSX and NYSE-listed companies Equinox Gold, Pretium Resources and New Gold. He holds a B.Sc. degree from Queen’s University in mining engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia. Mr. Currie is the 2014 Co-Winner of AME BC’s prestigious E.A. Scholz Award for excellence in mine development for his role in building New Gold’s New Afton Mine.

Christopher Park

Interim CFO

Mr. Park is a seasoned finance leader with over 25 years of experience, of which 20 were within the mining sector. He brings to Ascot deep experience in leading the finance function during transformational periods, most notably during two project constructions. Mr. Park began his career in public accounting before moving to corporate controllership roles. He is a desginated CPA, CGA.

Lars Beggerow

VP Exploration

Lars Beggerow has over 20 years experience in minerals exploration and development. Mr. Beggerow started his career in BHP's exploration group working on a large number of base metal and precious metal projects in Europe, North- and South America, Asia and Australia in successively more senior roles. In 2005 Mr. Beggerow joined Far West Mining and guided the technical team during the development of the Santo Domingo IOCG deposit in Chile from discovery to pre-feasibility and eventual successful sale of the company to Capstone Mining in 2011. After a short stint with Capstone, Mr. Beggerow provided consulting services to the mining and financial industry until joining Ascot Resources in October 2017. Mr. Beggerow holds a diploma in geology and paleontology from the Freie Universität Berlin in Germany.

Dennis Wilson

VP, Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSES)

Dennis Wilson has more than 35 years of experience in environmental management, safety and sustainability, including over 20 years in the mining industry. He has held senior roles including Vice President, HSES at Americas Gold and Silver, Vice President of Sustainability at STLLR Gold (formerly Moneta Gold), Vice President, HSE at Equinox Gold, and Director, Environment and Social Responsibility at New Gold. He has led permitting, compliance, safety and sustainability efforts for projects and operations across Canada (BC & ON), the United States, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. Mr. Wilson brings broad expertise spanning the full mine lifecycle, from early development through closure, and has worked extensively with Indigenous communities in Canada and remote communities in Australia, Brazil, and Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Environmental Science from Charles Sturt University in New South Wales, Australia.

Lyle Morgenthaler

General Manager

Lyle Morgenthaler has over 40 years of experience in mining development, operations, and projects. Most recently he held the positions of Manager and Chief Engineer of Pretium Resources’ (now Newmont’s) Brucejack Mine through the construction phase and first four years of production. Before that, he consulted on various projects including Elgin Mining in Sweden and the Newmont and Miramar Resources Hope Bay Project on the mine engineering and operations team. Lyle holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mining engineering from UBC and is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia.

George Friesen

Assistant General Manager

George Friesen has over 35 years of experience in mining development, operations, and projects. Most recently he held the positions of Manager of Technical Services and Mine Manager at Pretium Resources’ (now Newmont’s) Brucejack Mine through the construction phase and first four years of production. Before that, Mr. Friesen was Manager of Technical Services for Elgin Mining, a Canadian resource company with assets in Canada and Sweden, until it was acquired by Mandalay Resources. Previously, he was Chief Engineer at Newmont and Miramar Resources advancing the Hope Bay Project to production, and Chief Engineer at the Con Mine, Yellowknife, until its closure. Mr. Friesen holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in mining engineering from UBC and is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia.
